The Wisconsin SFI® Implementation Committee (SIC), in cooperation with the Forest Industry Safety and Training Alliance, Inc. (FISTA) and the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association (GLTPA), agree that to be considered a "Qualified Logging, Trucking, or Resource Professional" in Wisconsin you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Continuing Education Training - 24 total hours in any two consecutive year period:
Up to 16 hours in any 2 year period may consist of attendance at the following conferences:
- Cable Loggers' Conference (Cable)
- Southwest Wisconsin LoggersÕ Conference (Tomah)
- Central Wisconsin Logging and Trucking Conference (Stevens Point)
- Northeast Wisconsin LoggersÕ Conference (Carter)
A minimum of 8 hours must consist of attendance at one of the courses listed in the SFI® Training Workshop Schedule Brochure.
Best Management Practices (BMP) for Water Quality Ð Must attend a minimum of one full 8 hour course**
At a minimum, the Contract Holder and one "in-woods" person actively responsible for each logging site or trucking operation must be a "Qualified Professional". In some cases, the Contract Holder may also be the "in-woods" person.

**Refresher information on BMPs will be incorporated into all other related training programs. After initial completion of the BMPs for Water Quality Course, attendance at subsequent BMP Courses listed in the SFI® Training Workshop Schedule Brochure will be applied as continuing education hours.
Training credit is applied once per class per year. Credit hours cannot be obtained by attending the same class twice in one year.
To receive credit for all outside programs and/or meetings they must be pre-approved by FISTA. You must contact FISTA and submit an agenda, speaker list, and number of contact hours prior to the program. If approved, you will be required to submit proof of attendance. The FISTA Training Committee will make the determination on any questionable requests.
Certified Master Loggers who complete an audit of their operations will be granted 8 hours of training credit for the audit year. Technical experts and field auditors will be granted 8 hours of training credit for the year in which they participate in audits. Credit cannot be obtained for both a Master Logger audit and participation as a technical expert in the same year (maximum of 8 hours of credit granted in any one year for participation in the audit process).
Successful completion of the Wisconsin Certified Logger Safety Program will provide 24 credit hours of training.
Satisfactory participation in the Wisconsin BMP Monitoring Teams efforts (including required training) will provide 24 credit hours of training.
CFE contact hours in Category 1 will be available for certain classes toward SAF-CFE Certification. Available credit hours will be listed in FISTA brochures.
