FISTA provides Ground Worker Safety Training and Basic Climbing Safety Instruction to entry-level workers for tree care and landscaping companies across the country. A Susan B. Harwood OSHA Grant currently allows FISTA to provide this training for little or no cost to your company. FISTA can travel to any state to conduct these training programs.

Ground Worker Safety is hands-on training focusing on safety and use of chain saws, chippers, mowers, hedge trimmers, and hand tools. This workshop covers OSHA Regulations and Guidelines, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Ergonomics, First Aid Requirements, Felling Techniques, and more. FISTA Safety Trainers conduct these workshops and have over forty years of combined field experience.

Basic Climbing Safety Instruction focuses on safety and climbing techniques for pruning, trimming, and tree removal. This workshop is designed for entry-level workers or those needing a refresher. This workshop covers OSHA Regulations and Guidelines, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Ropes and Saddles, Updated Climbing Techniques, Aerial Rescue Procedures, and Hazard Tree Removal. Currently, FISTA has partnered with Dr. John Ball, South Dakota State University, to conduct these workshops along with other qualified climbing instructors.

FISTA can also provide training for non-English speaking workers. Many of the handouts used in both the Ground Worker Safety and the Basic Climbing Safety have been translated into Spanish. FISTA also contracts with Spanish-speaking trainers who have experience in the tree care industry. Please contact us if you are looking for this type of training.

Please contact FISTA to schedule training programs at your own site. Also come back soon for dates and locations of upcoming Ground Worker Safety Training and Basic Climbing Safety workshops.
